January - February 2026 Group Exhibition
Location: Cowichan Performing Arts Centre Lobby - Duncan BC
Open to Ladysmith Arts Members

Ladysmith Arts is partnering with CVRD Arts & Culture, South Cowichan Arts Guild, Arts at Cowichan Lake, Cowichan Valley Arts Council & Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society for an exhibition to be held in the lobby of the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre (CPAC)  Jan. 8 –  Feb. 28, 2026. CPAC will have over 15 performances running through the theatre during the art show, many are already sold out.

Recognition and Recollection aims to amplify the impact of art on mental health. Artists know how important creating and experiencing creativity is for well-being. This initiative magnifies the significance art and culture have on our mental heath and the human experience. 

​

Artist are invited to submit work that explore the following themes:

  • Using art to express mental health challenges

  • Impact of art on wellbeing

  • Mental health politics

  • Art as mental health advocacy

  • Wellness

  • Memory, trauma, joy euphoria, depression, loss (January is National Alzheimer's Month)

Submission Fee: $25 per submission

Commission: 20%

Drop Off at CPAC: January 5, 2026, 9 AM - 3 PM (by appointment)

Pick Up at CPAC: March 2, 2026 - Time TBA

Artists must be able to drop off and pick up during the listed times, no exceptions. Work can't be removed early.

Opening Reception: January 8, 2026, 1 PM - 3 PM

Juried Exhibition Notice:

  • No membership duplicates - Artists can only submit to one arts organization taking part in this exhibition

  • Due to limited gallery space, not all submissions may be accepted. Entries will be reviewed and selected based on space availability. ​

  • Submitting the registration form and paying the fee does not guarantee inclusion in the exhibition. Our goal is to accommodate as many artists as possible within the available space.

3D Artists:

  • Space for free-standing 3D works is extremely limited. Please contact us  — do not use the online form below.

Notification of Acceptance:

  • You will receive an email confirmation by December 10 informing you whether your work has been accepted into the exhibition.

I agree: That the works of art I submitted is my original work (ideas, composition and image). The work is culturally appropriate in its content with images that I am authorized to use. I understand that not all artworks will be accepted for this specific exhibition and that a 20% commission will be taken on the sale of my work. That I am a member in good standing of Ladysmith Arts.
