Summer Gallery Assistant Job:

Are you a student looking to gain some retail experience this summer? The Arts Council of Ladysmith and District is hiring a summer student to work in the Ladysmith Gallery. Reporting to the Executive Director and Gallery Coordinator, the summer student will have the opportunity to work during gallery exhibitions assisting gallery visitors and assisting with training new gallery volunteers. Additionally, they will collaborate with the Media Coordinator to create social media content regarding current exhibitions. Qualifications:

 

  • Ability to mulit-task

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Retail and customer service experience is an asset

  • Ability to work independently and within a team

  • Background knowledge of the arts would be considered an asset

  • Good computer skills, including social media and website editing would be considered an asset

  • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector search (to be completed as part of the recruitment process)

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs grant. In ordered to be considered for this position you must:

 

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Act

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada

 

Please note that international students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

 

Hours:

This job is 35 hours per week. This is a limited time summer contract expected to run from End of June - September 1st. 

Compensation:

The rate of pay is $17.50 per hour. Wages are paid monthly and include 4% in lieu of vacation pay on every pay cheque.
