In this exhibition at the Ladysmith Gallery, longtime friends Patti Ransom and Ruben Galdames are thrilled to collaborate with one another. With over 30 years of friendship and creative dialogue, their shared background—Ruben in architecture and Patti in design—brings a dynamic interplay to the show. Like building a home together, their work balances structure and design, offering viewers two distinct yet complementary visions of artistic expression.

Patti Ransom Interior Designer and artist based in Nanaimo who is drawn to the endless possibilities of colour, texture, and form. As a mixed media artist, I create abstract pieces that reflect my inner landscape as much as the world around me. The architecture and atmosphere of Italy and more specifically the Amalfi Coast deeply move me—its light, structure, and rhythm often find their way into my work. Each piece is a process of feeling, layering, and discovery.

Ruben Galdames Architect/ Sculptor born in Chile, for many years creating structures that stand up to the service of our community in Nanaimo. Sculptures in clay are my actual fascination because they express all my inner self and feelings in my soul. They actually talk back to me with their own presence helping me to learn about myself and the world around me. My creations are the sharing of my soul and give me the strength that we all need in this life.
