Join us for PaperWorks, a group exhibition and sale of original prints by members of the Printmakers of the Salish Sea artists collective.  PaperWorks opens Friday, November 21 and runs to Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Ladysmith Gallery.

PaperWorks 2025 features an extensive array of works of six Vancouver Island printmakers who create using a range of printmaking methods in non-toxic print studios in communities of the Salish Sea. Hand-pulled or hand-burnished, each piece is an expression of both passion and appreciation for printmaking and the environment.

In PaperWorks 2025, Anne Jones, Dorothy Friesen, Kirsty Henderson, Leona Petrak, Leslie Mobbs, and Louise Slobodan are offering an inspiring showcase of over 100 works influenced by their coastal environment, personal histories, and a never ending curiosity.

These distinct artworks are varied in style and technique and offer deeply personal expressions, emotive representational works, and wildly energetic abstracted pieces.  Each piece is an original print created by either Intaglio or Relief printmaking method:  the exhibit includes Reduction and multi-plate Linocut prints, Drypoint engravings, Collagraph prints and Monotypes.  The printmakers work using traditional techniques though with freedom to bend ‘the rules’ but always use the least toxic techniques and material available.  Prints range in size and price points, framed or unframed: also available are original one-of-a-kind cards and other items created with printmaking.

Printmakers will be in the Gallery each day and are happy to chat about the work, printmaking methods and inspiration, answering viewers’ questions.  Printmaking demos and other creative activity will also be part of the PaperWorks 2025 exhibition and sale.

PaperWorks is an arts exhibition dedicated to printmaking and was created in 2024 by several members of the Collective as a way to foster the understanding and knowledge about printmaking as a visual art form within the local community.   The artists’ collective known as Printmakers of the Salish Sea has a focus on less-toxic printmaking and was formed in 2021.

PAPERWORKS runs November 21 – November 30, 2025 at the Ladysmith Gallery, 7 - 32 High Street, Ladysmith, BC. Open daily, 10 am - 4 pm.
