The Arts Council of Ladysmith and District invites established and emerging fine artisans and artists living and working on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands to apply for participation in our first biennial juried Fine Craft Show.

With $3,500 in prizes to be won, categories include basketry, clay, fiber decorative, fiber wearables, glass, metal, leather, paper, stone, wood, combined media and jewelry. Those juried into the exhibition will have their work displayed in-person (444 Parkhill Terrace, Ladysmith BC) and online on our website at www.ladysmitharts.ca

Call for submissions start January 1st, 2022 and run till January 17th, 2022 at midnight. Artisans will submit their information and photographs of their work online for jurying. It is key that high quality photos are taken to best represent your work to the jurors.

Our jurors for this competition are Jason Gress, a three dimensional artist and the current chair of the Vancouver Island University Art & Design Program; Coreen Zerr, a award winning fiber artist and instructor; and Cam Russell, founder of the Fine Furniture Program at Camosun College and owner of Coventry Woodworks. We interviewed our three jurors to ask them what advice they could give to potential applicants. Please check out below.
