This August, art lovers are in for a joyful celebration of creativity, connection, and inspiration. From August 22 to 31, the Ladysmith Gallery will host “For the Love of Art, For the Joy of It”—an exciting group exhibition showcasing the recent work of 11 passionate local artists.

With approximately 70 original pieces on display, this vibrant show offers something for every art enthusiast. From striking landscapes to expressive abstracts, delicate sketches to bold painterly statements, the exhibition highlights a diverse range of styles, mediums, and sizes. Small works and artist cards will also be available—perfect for collectors or those looking for a special gift.

The participating artists include: Sylvie Bart, Sarah Boileau, Trudy Broadley, Maureen Coles, Janice Evans, Halina Grzyb, Zann Hemphill, Charlotte Mougeot, Catherine Taron, Marina Wright and Eileen Williamson.

All have exhibited extensively on Vancouver Island and in the Lower Mainland. Many are affiliated with the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Nanaimo Artists Group, and are active participants in well-known local events such as the Nanaimo Art Walk and Arts on the Avenue in Ladysmith. Several have been recognized with awards at juried shows for their outstanding work.

These artists are more than just exhibitors—they are companions on a creative journey, united by a shared passion for their craft and a deep connection to the natural beauty of Vancouver Island. Through their art, they tell stories, celebrate joyful moments, and explore the rich textures of life.

One of the most special features of this exhibition is the chance to meet the artists themselves. Each day, one or more artists will be present at the gallery, often painting, sketching, or drawing on-site. It’s a rare opportunity to engage directly—ask about their inspiration, their techniques, or their artistic journey.

This is more than an art show—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and connection. Whether you're a seasoned collector, an aspiring artist, or simply curious, we invite you to stop by the gallery, share a conversation, and experience the joy of art from celebrated Vancouver Island artists.

The gallery summer hours are 9:30 AM - 5 PM, open daily at Unit 7 - 32 High St. Ladysmith BC

Come for the love of art. Stay for the joy of it.
