Get ready for a fun and festive workshop with Ladysmith artist Karen Dance! To help get the good times rolling, invite a friend or family member to come get muddy with you. You'll learn to create a clay project from start to finish, and how to bring shape, texture, and of course whimsy, to your work. Together, we'll each build a series of trees and group them together to make your own whimsical forrest centrepiece. After a lunchbreak, add additional details and colour to make your piece even more special. Karen will fire and glaze your creations, and we will notify you when they're ready for pickup.

• Clothes that can get a bit messy

Karen Dance works out of her Ladysmith pottery studio, Tilted Kilnworks. Her one-of-a-kind vessels are hand-formed using a variety of methods, such as pinch, coil and slab work. She also creates her own tools and texturizing mats in order to customize her characters. Thoughtful applications of different glazes and stains are used to render depth and create textures that invite touch and endeavour to captivate the viewer. Each piece is given, through its creation, a personality that aims to elicit an emotional response and evoke humour.
