About the Event

Meet us at Transfer Beach and take in a two-day plein air workshop. We'll begin with a demo where David will talk about what he observes (light, tones, textures), simplifying, his choices of palette, composition, and all the little decisions he makes along the way. You can choose to work in either acrylic or oil. David will be working in oil, likely with a little alkyd medium to speed drying, in an alla prima technique that also works for acrylic painters. It's a different approach than watercolour and should add another viewpoint to an interesting couple of days together. After the demonstration, everyone will find their perfect spot, and David will wander amongst you. We will discuss your particular vision, where you might feel uncertain or appreciate advice, and David will offer suggestions for whatever your medium you choose to work in.
