Open Studio For New Printmakers
New and emerging printmakers are invited to join us on select Sundays for open studio. Learn from each other and share ideas! Prerequisites are required.

About the Event
Printmaking Studio Time
We are offering open printmaking studio time on select Sundays for those who have recently taken a printmaking workshop/class. Space is limited, so booking online is required for each Sunday you wish to attend. Please read prerequisites to make sure you are eligible.
Prerequisites:
You are a beginner to early-intermediate level printmaker
You have completed the Ladysmith Arts safety training and printmaking studio overview tour within the last 4 months of the studio date you have registered for. Note: if you need a refresher, please email education@ladysmitharts.ca
You have taken at least one printmaking workshop or class with Ladysmith Arts within the last year or an equilivant at another printmaking studio or univeristy level course.
How open studio time works:
This is a non toxic print studio, solvents and aerosol sprays are not allowed in the space
Booking a spot is mandatory
When you arrive check in with the printmaking coordinator
Participants can work during this supervised time. The printmaking coordinator will be on hand to answer any questions and to supervise work going through the press to make sure it won’t damage the equipment
Participants are required to clean up after themselves

Akua Intaglio Inks
Brayers
Some assorted print studio tools
What is not provided:
Printmaking plate
Printmaking paper
Apron

Can I attend open studio if I have never done printmaking before?
No - we require those attending open studio to have taken a class/course prior to. These open studio times are not designed to be a replacement of taking an actual course. Participants must be able to work on their own without causing damage to equipment. If you have taken a class/course with another instructor or attended a program for printmaking within the last 6 months then we only require you to complete the safety orientation with us.
I am an experienced printmaker, can I book a spot for these open studio sessions?
These open studio sessions are designed for new and emerging printmakers only - if space is available, we can take experienced printmakers in this session. Email education@ladysmitharts.ca on the Thursday prior to the open studio date to find out availability.
