About the Event

This course is designed to take the mystery out of oil paints and introduce students to this, the most forgiving and flexible medium of them all. We’ll explore everything from mediums and what they do, brushes and tools, different techniques from alla prima to layering and glazing, to the kind of supports you can work on and so much more. And for those concerned about solvents, there is good news: water soluble oils really work! Using simple still life setups as a motif, we’ll discover ways to make great paintings in this exciting medium. If you want to add oils to your repertoire, this workshop is for you!

We are following current COVID-19 regulations: Masks are mandatory inside the building, and we will be checking for proof of full vaccination for participants born in 2009 or earlier.
