"I ❤️Pop-ups with Trisha Klus
Participants will learn to create several fun pop-up mechanisms and assemble them into a soft-covered book themed around “Hearts.” They’ll leave the class with their completed pop-up book and reference notes for future projects.

About the Event
Who doesn’t love pop-ups? In this class participants will learn how to make a variety of entertaining pop-up mechanisms. These will form the pages of our book, protected with a soft wrap cover. The theme of the book is “Hearts”. Students will go home with a wonderful pop-up book and notes to use as a reference for creating future pop-up projects.
All materials required to complete this project are provided by the instructor.
Please Bring With You:
Self-healing cutting mat or other surface to protect tables
Cutting tool of choice, rotary blade, x-acto knife (preferred)
Ruler
Scissors
Pen & pencil
Piercing tool, can be a needle, awl (small diameter) or hatpin
About the Artist
Trisha Klus is a lettering and book artist specializing in calligraphy and hand bound artist’s books with explorations in collage, marbling, mail art and letterpress printing. She has currently been creating with a focus on interactive books. Since beginning her creative studies in 1995, Trisha’s books and artwork have been published in Somerset Studio, Handcraft Illustrated, Bound & Lettered, the Alcuin Society’s “Amphora” and The Canadian Philatelist. She has participated in group shows with the Fairbank Calligraphy Society, Printmakers Only Group, Canadian Book Binders and Book Artists Guild, The
Warmland Calligraphers, The Escape Artists and The Sooke Fine Arts Show. In 2011 she had her first solo show. Her work is included in the Special Collections Library at University of Victoria, Special Collections Library at University of British Columbia, the National Library for Legal Deposit, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art as well as in private collections across Canada, USA and beyond.
Formerly an Officer and one of the first women aircrew in the Canadian Military, Trisha is now happily
settled on Vancouver Island, B.C.
