About the Event
Drypoint printmaking is an Intaglio technique. This means that the printed marks are those transferred to the paper from the incised, or lower level of the plate, the relief or upper surface having been wiped clean.
In this beginner/ intermediate, one day workshop participants will create drypoint prints working on plastic plates with carborundum drypoint needles. Areas of tone are created with hatching, stippling as well as sanding and toner wash ‘aquatints’. We will then learn how to ink and wipe the plates to make our prints. Studio and etching press protocol will be reviewed as well as the tradition of signing and numbering prints.
All materials will be provided.
Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, 9:30am -4:00pm. Half hour break for lunch.
