About the Event
Do you want to understand colour theory so that you can mix your own colours in watercolour, acrylics, or oils? Do you want to learn how colour can help you produce artwork that has emotion, drama or extraordinary light? In this workshop, we’ll learn about the colour wheel, colour temperature, relativity/proximity, and colour relationships. We'll explore gradients, layers of colour, and forms of pixelation/pointillism. We will look at some of the work of the Dutch Masters, impressionists, and contemporary artists such as Chuck Close and Mark Rothko to see how they revolutionised the art world with their approaches to colour. You’ll never “see” colour or the world quite the same way again. Students will be provided with a workbook/notes, a book reference for their own use and will participate in hands-on exercises in colour theory.
