About the Event

In this book-making workshop, you will receive personal instruction from an experienced artist and instructor. Learn through demonstration with a variety of examples and a generous supply of materials to use. Discover the unlimited possibilities while making your own artist's book with a variety of different page treatments including pop-ups, pull-outs, and hidden spaces. Not only will you finish the day with a unique book structure, you'll learn book-making skills to apply to future projects as well. You may want to personalise your book with your own theme. Some ideas include family, travel, nature, colour, seasons, ocean, stars, animals, myths, forest, home, quotes or poems, friends

Please bring:

  • scissors
  • rotary cutter and cutting mat
  • bone folder
  • pencil
  • eraser
  • ruler (preferably metal edged)
  • glue stick
  • X-acto knife
  • needle with an eye large enough for embroidery thread
  • damp washcloth in a Ziploc bag or baby wipes to clean the glue off your fingers
  • scrap paper for glue shields
  • light lunch or snack
  • Optional to bring: coloured pens, gel pens, markers, inks, coloured pencils, rubber stamps, threads, fibers, ribbons, buttons, beads, charms, small photos (no bigger than 3 ½” x 3 ½”), favourite quotes

About the instructor: Trisha is a calligrapher and book artist with a focus on hand bound, contemporary book structures. She enjoys sharing her passion for bookmaking, and for nearly 30 years, she has been involved with the book arts, specializing in calligraphy, wedding certificates, custom hand bound books and one-of-a-kind artist’s books. Trisha's work has been shown internationally, has been published in book arts journals, and is in both public and private collections.
