The inspiration for this thread sketch is a photograph of a common sparrow, taken by my daughter and used with her permission. Sitting on a post and looking down on the world, this fabric rendition is larger than life! This piece is made with fabric on a dyed and painted canvas background. The details of shading, eyes, claws, beak and feathers are added using a free motion machine stitching style called thread sketching. On the back of the piece you can see how much thread is used. Mounted on stretcher bars in a black wood frame.
