Canadian Shield with Torso I,” combining two caustic optic images in one piece, brings the Venus de Milo to Group of Seven country. These caustic captures blur the line between painting and photography and between reality and imagination. In this process, I don’t set up a thing or subject to photograph. Rather, I unpack light and abstract meaning from that. In this way, these artworks are both records of fleeting instants in time and lyrical testaments to seeing “the world in a grain of sand.”
