Sonnet 922 By John Edwards

Sonnet 922

“First Light”

Soft as a kiss from space

First Light upon a cedar falls

As thrush and hawk, swallow and eagle wake

Then descends each glowing branch

A god on golden steps

The forest floor again to seek

With warm increase

First Light in sweet embrace

Brings new life to every lowly bud and leaf

By John Edwards
